What if you don't want to go out? Greeting Card
Suzie is an acclaimed artist, having worked as a commercial and portrait photographer internationally. Her work has also exhibited at London’s Southbank Centre. Suzie’s logic-defying images aim to increase awareness and conversation about mental health. Having herself experienced depression; Suzie is interested in representing an internal state rather than capturing a moment in time. She uses constructed imagery, digitally stitching photographs together to present as a single, untampered image, challenging our notion of reality.
What if I don’t want to leave the house? was taken by Suzie, with her neighbour, Heledd. It was inspired by Heledd’s story of paralysis during the first lockdown; the grip of anxiety, the cold sweat, the impulse to run away, to hide. Suzie was over-whelmed by the number of people who reached out to her in response to this image,
You think “oh, am I being a bit stupid not wanting to leave the house?” but it’s surprising that the majority of people, I think, have had moments [like] that.
Increasing conversations around mental wellbeing will unite us in the knowledge that everyone goes through – and can overcome – struggle.
Suzie's greetings cards are printed on high-quality 330gsm Fedrigoni card.
